1. They Started Selling You on the Role
When interviewers shift from evaluating you to telling you why the company is a great place to work, that's a signal. They're trying to keep you interested — which means they're interested.
2. The Conversation Ran Long
If they had 30 minutes scheduled and you talked for 50, that's a good sign. Interviewers don't extend conversations out of politeness. If they're still talking to you, it's because they want to be.
3. They Asked About Your Timeline
Questions like 'How soon could you start?' or 'Are you interviewing anywhere else?' signal that they're thinking about you as a potential hire, not just a candidate they're checking off a list.
4. They Introduced You to Someone Extra
If they brought in someone who wasn't on the original schedule — a potential colleague, another stakeholder — that's a strong signal. They're showing you off.
5. They Told You the Next Steps Clearly
A vague 'we'll be in touch' is different from 'we'll have a decision by Thursday and will reach out either way.' Specificity means they're organized about you as a candidate.
