Confidence Isn't a Feeling You Wait For
Most people think confidence is something you either have or you don't — that it shows up on its own when you're 'ready enough.' That's not how it works. Confidence is something you build deliberately, through the right preparation and the right mindset.
Start With Evidence
Write down three things you've done at work that you're genuinely proud of. Not things you think sound impressive — things you actually feel good about. Read them. Let yourself feel proud. That feeling is confidence, and it's real because it's backed by real evidence.
Reframe the Nerves
Nervousness and excitement feel almost identical in your body. Racing heart, heightened alertness, energy you don't know what to do with. The difference is the story you tell yourself about those feelings. Try shifting from 'I'm so nervous' to 'I'm ready to go.' It sounds small. It works.
Stop Seeking Perfection
Confidence doesn't come from knowing you'll say everything perfectly. It comes from knowing that even if something doesn't land exactly right, you have more to offer. You're not one answer — you're a whole professional with a track record. Own that.
