Keep It Confidential
Until you have an offer you're ready to accept, your job search stays private. Don't tell work friends who might accidentally mention it. Don't update your LinkedIn in a way that signals active searching if your company monitors that. Be thoughtful about your digital footprint during this time.
Schedule Interviews Strategically
Morning or late-afternoon interviews are easiest to accommodate without raising questions. Use personal time off when you need it. Prepare your explanation for absences in advance — 'I have a personal appointment' is complete and appropriate.
Be Clear on Why You're Looking
Interviewers will ask why you're considering leaving. Have a clear, honest answer that's professional and forward-looking. Not a complaint about your current employer — a genuine explanation of what you're looking for that you haven't found yet. That's all they need.
Don't Mentally Quit Before You Leave
Until you've signed an offer letter, you're still an employee. Keep doing good work. Keep showing up fully. Your reputation at your current company is part of your professional story — and the people you work with now are likely to be references or future colleagues down the road.
A The Pep Talk is a quick, focused session — easy to fit into a lunch break or early morning when you're managing your search around a full-time role.
